Bringing you web hotness…

So I still use Yahoo email for some things. Yeah I got Gmail. I got POP. I got freaking email all over the place after being on the Internet since day one. So every single time I check my Yahoo email I see Megan Fox’s tits in an advertising block for Netflix. Nevermind I already have Netflix. Never mind I’ve seen Transformers, and the sequel. Nevermind that I don’t even think Megan Fox is that particularly sexy. I’m a man, and every time I visit Yahoo and they’re using a cookie or know it’s me (a male) via an IP address they splash some female on the screen. Nevermind I’ve been married for fifteen years, Or maybe because ;-}

Anyway… I like software, cars, humor, books, home goods, all kinds of other things, and yes I like tits. However, I don’t like them everytime I open the Web Browser just because I’m male. I try to keep my eyeballs to myself, since I am married, and I have some degree or morality. So I wouldn’t click on that ad if they paid me to. It’s time to switch up your gender-driven advertising tactics Yahoo…

Quaker Web Ads Anybody else think that these Quaker ads are just plain stupid? I don’t know what it is today, but everything I see see seems to cry out to be slapped hard across the face. First of all, I know oatmeal is good, good for the colon etc… But give me a break.

Do you really feel as if your going to jet off, briefcase in hand after shoveling in a bowl of (probably) gluey oatmeal? Not to mention that the guy in the image is gonna get his ass burned right off if he did have a jetpack… The TV spots are equally as bad, and I’m not sure which came first, the chicken or the egg. Just look at this guy, he’s completely clueless that his ass is melting. Does anyone else but me think that advertising actually helps alienate consumers? I know that if I hate a commerical, or a specific ad, it would take a lot to persuade me to actually purchase the item being advertised.

It’s one reason that “text-based” advertising is so successful. In this case, a picture ain’t worht a thousand words, but vice versa.

I came across: http://forums.macrumors.com when I was looking for other articles about why Yahoo’s new homepage sucks. Reading the comments posted on the thread about that subject led me to ask why (it seems) Mac users are idiots?

Here’s a cross-section of posts from the topic.

I’ve always hated Yahoo… yuck.

They’re not the greatest, but I’ve been using Yahoo! so long I’ve gotten comfortable with it. But Google is certainly overshadowing them.

Same here, but for curiosity’s sake I decided to give it a visit. I don’t like it either (it’s not worse than the last one, but not better either).It reminds me of another website, but I’m not sure which one…

EDIT: OK, it reminds me of AOL’s homepage.

Looks like a crappy domain squatter site.

I dislike all portal style sites, but at least now yahoo has decided to hire a graphics designer and make their portal look OK.

Give me a freaking break… Who let all these idiots on the Internet? I wish we could simply time travel back when everybody had to UUdecode to get their porn! GEE… Just wait Mac users, I’m sure if you ever gain more than a ten or fifteen percent market share, the hackers and virus writers will target you all REALLY HARD.
