Directory-Submissions-SurferAs you might or might not know, I am currently building the most advanced desktop application available for semi-automated directory submissions.

You can argue the point about the value of submitting to directories, but from experiences, it’s a very inexpensive way to help grow your website’s popularity, and get free links.

Historically the problem has been cutting and pasting or manually entering all the fields. Well not only will the program contain 12000 free directories to submit to, it will have a database with preview images, preview descriptions, advanced data entry capabilities, ease of use, smart features and a terrific price for value…

It’s currently in late beta, and I’m submitting my community site while testing it, so I’ll keep every one up to date as to when it will be commercially available. I’m totally excited, because it’s really very easy to get a lot of links fast. and I hate repetitive tasks.

OneWayTextLink - Lame Okay, here goes another SEO service review. Most good webmasters know that getting links from other sites can help your site’s popularity increase. Submitting to high quality web directories can be great, because there are a tone of free weeb directories to submit your site to.

The problem is it’s a time consuming and arduous process to sit for hours and hours and only come away with a few links. Sometimes your site will not get approved, and sometimes it takes a long time to get approved by many of these directories.

Link building is a daily process, and often if you are a one man show, webmaster, designer, SEO expert, content writer, you simply do not have time for this vital process. Anyway to automate (semi-automate) this process is helpful. Automated submissions are often rejected and will get your email address banned for using these types of totally automated directory submissions soft wares. It’s one of the reasons I’m building my own semi automatic, browser based directory submissions package with Delphi.

That brings me to OneWayTextLink.Com. They promise a semi automated way to submit to free directories. Great in theory, as all they ask is a link back to actually take advantage of this link building service.

The problem with this service is simply that their implementation is horrible. Once you log in, you set up a profile, keywords, descriptions, email address, name to use when submitting, titles, etc… The form for adding this information to their site is tiny, and I hate tiny forms. Strike #1.

Strike #2 – Their directory list looked promising, however, when you click on a link, they frame the directory, it didn’t go to a submissions page, just the main page.

Strike #3 – There is supposed to be a button on the left hand pane of the browser that will pre fill the form on the directory website. It wasn’t there. I tried several directories. the button never appeared. So I copy & pasted to one directory.

Strike# 4 – After navigating back to the “control panel” I noticed the link I used to go to the previous directory disappeared, but the entry for it in the list was still there. There was a link to mark as submitted, so I tried that, figuring by now a review of this service was in order. It took me to a separate page with a date field, and another field to fill out. REALLY? I couldn’t have just clicked the link on the previous page and made that automatically mark this as submitted. WHAT A WASTE of TIME!

I am trying to save time. This site is the most overly-complicated way to submit to a directory I’ve ever encountered. I mean the missing prefill button was bad enough, could be just a browser bug or something, I’m using FireFox, but to mark as submitted takes a navigation, and then hand-fill two more form fields. The whole deal is I want form fields automatically filled IN!

Needless to say, I took the link I had added to their site down BEFORE I wrote this review. AVOID for serious webmasters.

Best-Catalog - BullCrap

So I search for best high PR directories for free. the number one search results from Google is http://www.bestcatalog.net/seo_tips/directories.htm. I go to the site expecting what I searched for. After visiting three to five directories on the supposed “free” list, I discover they all have one great thing in common.

They all charge for review.

It’s almost like searching for free wallpaper, or free software. most times they want to charge. When I want something free, I want it free. When I want to pay for something, I want to pay for something.

I’m not sure how the Search Engines can really distinguish on things like this, but I really hate wasting time, especially on the first search result.

So I’m calling out BestCatlog.Net, for being full of crap. I would use harsher language, but you get the idea. Just put paid, if they;re paid. I mean they even went into the trouble of separating and putting a free list, and a paid list. When actually they are one and the same.

You should just take this freaking page down. Or at least post a real “free” list.

So to be on the safe side before I publish this post, I tried out two more links from the supposed free list. You guessed it. You have to pay for the link.

This is just a outright lie in black and white. Anyway I guess I’ll keep looking for more great free directories to add to my Directory Submission Surfer 1.5. I won’t be using anyone from BestCatlog’s “free” list though. You know what they’re “best” at??? Best at bull****
