Although I primarily am blogging on my official web design site, I thought I would pop over to Internet Madman to announce a nice little bit of coding in the form of a five dollar Windows application that assists in the easy creation of Facebook Fan or Facebook business pages. Use this link to download Facebook Page Creation Tool.

The Windows-based program allows you to visually create your tabbed interface, easily and automatically include popular sharing scripts, plus Facebook social plugins such as the like button, and the comment box. Testing a tab color scheme couldn’t be easier. Simply use the data entry tabs to enter content for up to five tabs, and click create! Did I mention I’m only charging five bucks??? I am a Madman!

Most people have hard time creating a good tabbed interface for their Facebook business of fan page, and I think that they labor under the misconception that it’s an automatic thing. In fact you have to install an application on Facebook called Static HTML iframe tabs, which allow you to enter custom page HTML CODE. This facebook application does not create a tabbed interface! That’s where my program comes into play. It will create the tabbed interface that has become a staple for all good Facebook pages. Show go over there to webprofast and download it today.

The drawback is it’s a little slow, and the table size is limited, and obviously it costs money, unlike MySQL. There’s time that you might need to add a row number or record number to a FoxPro table. Still FoxPro is a great back end for Windows applications, as long as the databases are kept bloat free, and relatively small and well maintained. I’ve been using it for over ten years and it’s never let me down. It runs particularly well as a back end database solution when coupled with the Microsoft OLEDB Privider for Microsoft Visual FoxPro.

I have finally found the time to finish Directory Submissions Surfer 2.0. When I first started blogging about the program to semi-automate submissions to quality web directories was in beta version 1.0 & beta version 1.5. I’m happy to say that the program was completely redesigned within this time frame. Many improvements, streamlining, and enhancements were added during the last year, and it’s a quality software program available for a nominal price. Just the list of directories included with the Directory Submissions Surfer 2 database took hours and hours of research. After all, 30,000 directories I didn’t use are available here in a download for free!

Let us consider the age-old Delphi problem of providing an editor for the contents of a Delphi DbGrid (Memo Field) We all know that normally, the Delphi DbGrid will simply display (MEMO) That’s really not good enough for any viable application.

So we will think to make some changes for the better. Perhaps your DbGrid also serves as the grid for multiple table? No problem. The first bit of code involves the “Get Text” event of any Field object. To add field objects to tables, double click the ttable object and then right click inside the editor that pops up and choose adds fields.

This text is just a placeholder as it cannot be directly added, and is there just to replace the quite ugly… (MEMO) Not you can make it any length you desire but since the contents of most memo fields can be quite long, it’s best to keep it short.

procedure TFrmMain.TbSitesdescGetText(Sender: TField; var Text: string;
 DisplayText: Boolean);
begin
Text := Copy(TbSitesDesc.AsString, 1, 50) + '...(Double Click to Edit)';

end;

Now on to the meat of the process. I’ve got a new form with a Tmemo, the form is called “FrmEditDbMemo” The rest of the process is straightforward. It’s totally dynamic so no static names are used, but based simply on the current contents of the DbGrid and the double-clicked field value in the DbGrid.

procedure TFrmSites.DBGrid1DblClick(Sender: TObject);
begin

 Application.CreateForm(TfrmEditDbMemo, FrmEditDbMemo);
 FrmEditDbMemo.Memo1.Text := Trim(DbGrid1.SelectedField.AsString);
 FrmEditDbMemo.Caption := 'Edit ' + DbGrid1.SelectedField.FieldName;

Choose to be a person of Excellence. As we pause in this Nation today… to hopefully give thanks to our creator, we should always be mindful of some very important factors. What was the thing that the pilgrims were most thankful for do you think?

Freedom of course was most likely their first thanksgiving to God. This is not to say that they weren’t thankful for many other things such as:

Food:
Health:
Family:
Home:

What are you thankful for?

I believe that today we as Americans and as children of God we are facing some of the toughest challenges in our history, both as a country and personally. Children are growing, expanding your minds, and learning, beginning to formulate a life’s plan.

Just remember, that when this nation was formed, our founders recognized and realized that our power as a nation comes freely given from We The People, and our rights are not given to us by the Government but from our all powerful Creator, God. Remember to always give thanks to him, and give back that which he is given to us.

• Charity
• Tithe
• A giving heart
• Compassion for those in need.

For if we stand with God, there is no force in this world, in between or beyond that can oppose us and be successful.

Isaiah 12:4-5 “Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.”

So being children of excellence, children of God, let us always be mindful of being of a character that our Heavenly Father admires, for we were not made for this world, but for his good pleasure. Therefore what determines our character is what we choose to do when no one is looking. What will you choose in your life?

This is what I wrote for Thanksgiving Day.

Okay. sometimes you got a new blog from an old blog, and you used the WordPress import XML (WXR) routine, and NOW you’ve found out that it’s far from a perfect solution. Let’s say your the least of your troubles are the simple fact now your posts have a new date, or better yet, no date at all. (Trust me this can happen)
Anyway, you might be wondering to yourself how to change these dates back to the ones that you had in your old blog. Or you might be wondering “Where the hell are my posts” Depending on your level of anxiety, I just wanted to say, calm down, and do this. It’s not the best fix but… Log into your cPanel, and log into your PHPmyAdmin. Then enter the following SQL to make your changes. (Don’t forget to click Go! after your query has been entered.

UPDATE `wp_posts` SET `post_date` = '2010-10-05 08:06:00' WHERE `post_date` = '0000-00-00 00:00:00'

This updates the date to October the fifth. You can further refine your query by adding something like:

UPDATE `wp_posts` SET `post_date` = '2010-10-05 08:06:00' WHERE `post_date` = '0000-00-00 00:00:00' AND `post_title` = 'This is the best Blog Post Ever!'

To your success!
