Free Twitter Backgrounds

I got a little bored this evening after the children went to sleep. none of my buds were playing X-Box, so I thought I’d have a go at creating a few free twitter background for public consumption.

I’ve always been a great fan of the Internet, and how designers, developers and creators publish free work for people to use and enjoy. So here you go. These images are in .JPG format and are 1920 * 1200. Please note: because these files are large, you can’t really see the details of each image. They all have a “Twitter Bird” in the left hand corner, but you cannot see that on the thumbnails. I made these really quickly, and will wait on the response to see if I should make additional free twitter backgrounds.

Retweet Madness

Twitter is starting the rollout phase of project Retweet. Project Retweet is simply a way of hopefully standardizing the retweet syntax, and show you on your Twitter account your tweets that have been retweeted, and your retweets. The only problem I see is that according to Twitter, you are not going to be able to add to the text of a retweet. Stats about your retweets and retweets by others will appear in your twitter timeline.

What???

That’s right. So for power users of Twitter, the power and flexibility of the retweet will be gone. Although I don’t have a ton of information regarding this whole process, I do believe that NOT TO BE ABLE to modify at least some portions of a retweet will keep some from retweeting as frequently as they have been, which according to Twitter is actually a small number of totals users.

Twitter & Retweet

I ran across this site http://act.ly/retweets. It’s basically a site that allows you to start a Tweet campaign, and post a tweet that you would like for http://act.ly/retweets’s audience to pick up on and retweet. We all are coming to grips with the power of Twitter. This service builds upon Twitter’s powerful retweet, making it easy to retweet links, news, etc… Theoretically this could become popular, and the site’s owners are billing at as, “Twitter Activism”

Of course we all know what a politically charged word that is these days, nevertheless, the site makes it easy to ReTweet. That being said, the site’s not getting that much traction, but perhaps bears watching.
